Climate Negotiation in UNFCCC COP26 at Glasgow
Quote from mmahmodul.hasan@yahoo.com on July 3, 2021, 7:27 amWe all know that COP26 is yet to happen. This most influential event will be held in Glasgow end of this year, if every thing is fine.
During this negotiation process, as a country, Bangladesh has several issues. What you think about the the negotiation point from Bangladesh perspective?
On the hand, as a NGO, what we can do prior to COP negotiaton in line with activities of Bangldesh Govt?

COP26 must take decisive steps to mandate additional efforts to close any gap in ambition to limit warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius – we cannot wait half a decade to deal with the shortfall of action needed during the current decade.
Bangladesh: Chair of Climate Vulnerable Nations’ Forum
Bangladesh under the leadership of the prime minister will play an important role as the current president of Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).

Time for a new direction as Bangladesh moves to take the helm
CLIMATE VULNERABLE FORUM CAN CHANGE THE PARADIGM ON DEALING WITH CLIMATE CHANGE
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has offered to initiate the CVF CPPs by launching the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan for Bangladesh in honour of the Father of the Nation. This will not just make Bangladesh resilient to the adverse impacts of climate change but will help us to thrive and prosper even in the face of these adverse impacts over the coming two decades.
The time has now come to not just manage the risks from the impacts of climate change but to rise above them in order to enable all countries of the world to prosper, despite the challenges. S0 seeking strengthened support for the regional and transnational adaptation and renewable energy programs benefitting most vulnerable nations. The CVF countries are determined to lead the way by example.
COP26 should likewise accord adequate space in its agenda for loss and damage
Dealing with loss and damage from human induced climate change in the upcoming COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2021, will be a make-or-break issue for the most vulnerable developing countries. It will therefore be incumbent on the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, as Chair of COP26, to hold discussions with all the key countries, as well as experts and other relevant stakeholders, prior to the COP in November, if there is to be a fruitful outcome.
