Severe Monsoon Rains Cause Catastrophic Flooding in Pakistan

These images show the south-central part of Pakistan before and after extreme monsoon rains triggered widespread flooding in August. Described as an “unprecedented climate catastrophe” by the United Nations, the floods follow a period in March and April of intense heat and drought in the country. The current floods have killed over 1,100 people and more than 700,000 livestock animals, according to the U.N., and caused severe damage to roads and bridges. Relief efforts from numerous organizations are underway to deliver aid to affected areas.
