Graphic: When Emissions Stop, Warming Stops
Decades of research show that global warming is tied primarily to fossil fuel-derived greenhouse gas emissions, and when those stop, warming stops within a few years.
The abbreviation “ppmv” in the graphic above stands for “parts per million by volume.” This refers to the number of carbon dioxide molecules per million molecules of dry air when occupying a certain amount of space.
