National Symposium on “Private Sector Participation and Leadership in Disaster Risk Management” and launching of “Private Sector Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC)”

Bangladesh is a land of resilience. The government of Bangladesh is investing in increasing the national capacity to withstand future shocks and stresses. These initiatives are appreciated by the global actors as role models for Disaster Risk Management (DRM). To supplement all these initiatives, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) is also stepping into the track of Disaster Risk Management to make national development sustainable. Since June 2020, DCCI is working with ActionAid Bangladesh, United Purpose, and World Vision Bangladesh as part of the Strengthening Urban Public-Private Programming for Earthquake Resilience (SUPER) Project. SUPER Project is also supporting to development of Artificial Intelligence based solutions for hazard anticipation and supporting to activation Private Sector Working Group under HCTT. Through these activities, the project is facilitating the participation of the private sector in DRM, as well as developing leadership capacity for managing disaster risks. In this backdrop, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, ActionAid Bangladesh, World Vision Bangladesh, and United Purpose are going to organize the National Symposium which will bring together the actors of DRM, policymakers, academia, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and private sector to exchange knowledge and learnings to build upon those for a disaster-resilient future.
