Scaling up LLA: A Conversation with Practitioners

The 2022 Winners of the GCA Local Adaptation Champions Awards and the Catalytic Awards will come together for a joint event at COP27, engaging in an interactive conversation on the challenges and opportunities for scaling up Locally Led Adaptation (LLA). The winners of the Global Center on Adaptation’s 2022 Local Adaptation Champions Awards will be announced on 12 November 2022. The awards aim to reward and spotlight innovative, exemplary, inspiring, and scalable locally-led efforts that address the impacts of climate change, and build effective climate resilience among the most vulnerable communities. The Catalytic Grants Programme was launched by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCAD). Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF), and Global Resilience Partnership (GRP), to provide initial seed funding to incentivize partnerships and collaborations beyond events including the Gobeshona Conference, Community Based Adaptation and COP26 at the Resilience Hub, and to implement ideas developed during the event space.

Opening address

Anju Sharma, Global Lead, Locally Led Adaptation, Global Center on Adaptation, will then moderate a conversation between the winners and the audience. The winners will include:

  • 4 Local Adaptation Champions Award winners (to be announced on 12 November! Come find out who wins)
  • Rubina Adhikari, YFEED, Nepal
  • Schanur Rahman, YouthNet for Climate Justice, Bangladesh
  • Stephen Bright Sakwa, Real Food System
